Pilates, coffee, a little work, lunch and a hidden beach — all within walking distance of Hotel Luz
One of our favorite things about staying at Hotel Luz is how much you can fit into a morning without ever really needing a plan — or a car.
Santurce is a neighborhood best experienced on foot. Coffee shops, local restaurants, fitness studios, coworking spaces, art, food trucks and even a tiny hidden beach are all tucked into the streets surrounding Hotel Luz.
So, inspired by a recent morning out with our friend and Hotel Luz guest Jules Miranda, here's our idea of a pretty perfect morning in Santurce. And yes, you can do the whole thing without leaving the neighborhood.
8:00 AM — Wake Up at Hotel Luz
No need to rush.
Wake up, get ready, step outside and take a little walk around the neighborhood. Santurce is particularly good in the morning, before the day really gets moving.
You'll see people opening up shops, grabbing coffee, walking dogs and heading to work while the streets slowly come alive.
Your first stop is only about a block away.
8:30 AM — Pilates at MSL Effect
Start the day with a little movement at MSLEFFECT, a new Pilates studio just one block from Hotel Luz.
It's exactly the kind of neighborhood addition we love seeing pop up around us and makes squeezing in a workout while traveling incredibly easy.
Get the Pilates pump, walk back outside, and now you've earned breakfast.
9:30 AM — Coffee + Breakfast at Café con Cé
From Pilates, make your way toward Calle Cerra and grab a table at Café con Cé
Order some breakfast, get your caffeine situation handled and hang out for a while. Calle Cerra is one of our favorite streets in Santurce, and Café con Cé is a great place to sit outside, eat, drink coffee and do some serious people watching.
There's no need to overcomplicate this part of the morning.
Coffee. Breakfast. Santurce going by.
Perfect.
10:30 AM — Unfortunately, Your Boss Still Knows Where You Are..
One of the benefits of staying somewhere that actually feels like a neighborhood is that working remotely doesn't necessarily mean sacrificing half your day.
If you just need to answer a few emails or jump on a quick call, head back to Hotel Luz and grab a seat in our breezeway. High-speed Wi-Fi, outdoor ceiling fans, some shade, all make for a comfortable place to knock out whatever the mainland needs from you.
Need to settle in for a real two- or three-hour work session? Take the roughly four-minute walk over to Mosaico Cowork, one of our neighborhood coworking spaces.
It's comfortable, quiet and built for getting actual work done. Laptop open. Headphones on. Handle business.
Then close it.

12:30 PM — Lunch at Miramar Food Truck Park
By now you've worked out, walked around Santurce, had your coffee and hopefully accomplished enough work to disappear for the rest of the day.
You've also probably worked up an appetite.
Head over to the Miramar Food Truck Park, where you'll find an assortment of quick, creative options without having to commit to a long sit-down lunch.
Pick whatever looks good, grab a bite and keep the day moving.
Because we're heading to the beach.
1:30 PM — Walk to the Cutest Little Beach in San Juan
Okay, technically we're crossing over into Condado for this one — but it's worth it (15 min walk)
Take a scenic walk toward the water and make your way to Playita de la Laguna del Condado, one of our favorite little hidden pockets of San Juan.
And when we say little, we mean it.
This tiny stretch of sand sits tucked along the Condado Lagoon and feels almost like a secret neighborhood swimming hole. Take a dip, find a spot in the sun and keep an eye on the clear, shallow water — you may even spot some of the starfish that call the lagoon home.
Look, but don't touch! Let the little guys do their thing.
And don't worry about hauling beach gear to Puerto Rico.

And That's Before Your Afternoon Even Starts
Think about what you just accomplished.
You worked out.
You wandered Santurce.

You went for a swim and spent some time in the sun.
And you did all of it without really leaving the neighborhood.
